Expedition Blue! is a gateway to visioning and learning about the “Blue Economy,” the economy that depends on and is promoted by its relationship with the water; in this case, the Atlantic ocean. A series of installations, to be located throughout Cape Cod, were designed for the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce in order to highlight both the natural and human-built features of the Blue Economy. BLD worked with CambridgeSeven and their team to generate a concept for signature installations that will direct visitors towards Cape Cod’s many connections to the Blue Economy. Expedition Blue! markers, referenced in the larger installations, create a scavenger hunt of significant features which participants can discover to learn more about the Blue Economy. This project invites the many visitors of Cape Cod’s historic and iconic landscapes to understand the importance of its relationship with a healthy marine environment and to engage with a renewed perspective on this vital resource.
