The Coldbrook Demonstration project is an outgrowth of the GR Forward planning process. This site was scheduled for design and construction prior to the completion of that plan, but was integrated into the project as a way to showcase some of the methods used to enhance the riverfront. The project includes methods such as the replacement of concrete flood walls with gabion walls and wetland terraces that will polish stormwater runoff. 

The trail system has been upgraded to the plan’s recommended multi-use trail width and also creates a touch down point to the river’s edge that will become river access for kayakers, tubers, and swimmers in future phases. A new overlook was added in order to provide long views up and down the river as well as a place to relax along the river’s edge.
